On September 20, 2025, Pagan Ulver returned triumphantly to the Stade R.U.C. in Casablanca as a special guest at the L’Boulevard Festival—exactly one year after making history as the first black metal band to win first prize in the Tremplin competition. If 2024 marked their breakthrough, 2025 became the moment they cemented their place among Morocco’s most ambitious and uncompromising acts.
The night witnessed the official live debut of their first full-length album, Obsidian Flame of Thy Offering—a 45-minute descent into symphonic tragedy, melodic fury, and theatrical immersion. Performed in its entirety, the album resonated with crushing weight and cinematic grandeur, transforming the stadium into an immersive ritual. The set was crowned by the unveiling of an unreleased single, offering a glimpse into the band’s next chapter and leaving the audience in awe.
Sharing the stage with Gorod and the legendary Katatonia, Pagan Ulver stood shoulder-to-shoulder with international heavyweights, proving that Moroccan extreme metal can command the same intensity and reverence as its global counterparts. For the band, playing alongside Katatonia—an act that had long inspired them—was nothing short of a dream realized.
The crowd’s response was overwhelming: longtime metalheads and curious newcomers alike were drawn into the maelstrom, their energy echoing the band’s performance. Critics and fans hailed the night as a defining moment, not only for Pagan Ulver but for Morocco’s entire underground scene.
As the flame first lit in 2024 now burns fiercer than ever, Pagan Ulver’s return to L’Boulevard in 2025 will be remembered as more than a concert—it was a reckoning, a myth forged in fire, and a chapter that forever altered the trajectory of Moroccan metal.
